DR. JANE E KEAT
CLINICAL CONSULTATION
I offer clinical supervision and consultation to individuals and organizations. I specialize in working with community mental health practitioners (including case workers and peer specialists) to help them manage the unique burden and stress of human service work.
I also assist organizations to establish trauma-informed structures to support their teams, reduce burnout, and increase retention.
PSYCHODYNAMIC SUPERVISION & CONSULTATION
As a psychoanalyst with experience working with adults in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I offer a collaborative and practical approach to supervision, serving as a thought partner to work through difficult issues and stuck cases.
REFLECTIVE CASE CONSULTATION GROUPS
I offer reflective case consultation groups for clinicians, with a particular focus on community mental health practitioners, case workers, and others in need of reflective space to manage difficult cases and process the stress and trauma of their work. This approach is valuable in addressing burnout.
BALINT GROUPS
The Balint method was developed in the 1950s by Hungarian psychoanalysts Michael and Enid Balint working with family doctors in London. Balint Groups are case consultation groups designed with a specific structure to help deepen physicians’ understanding of their relationship with their patients and enhance empathy. (The Balints coined the term “patient-centered medicine.”) I offer these groups in medical and mental health settings, and also have experience adapting them for use to address broader issues beyond the clinician-patient relationship, including for educators and other leaders. Balint Groups have been found effective in reducing burnout and increasing effectiveness.
